Fix the internet — restart your Wi-Fi router

When the internet stops working, a restart is a useful first check. You won't change any settings.

1
Find the router It's the box with the blinking lights — usually near where the internet cable enters your home.
⚠️ Don't press the tiny pinhole button — That one erases the router's settings. We're only unplugging power.
2
Pull the power plug Unplug the power cord from the router. If there's a second box (the modem), unplug that too.
3
Wait 30 seconds Really wait — this lets it forget its bad state. Count it out.
4
Plug it back in Modem first, then the router. Now give it 2–3 minutes while the lights settle.
5
Wait for the connection to return Give both boxes 2–3 minutes. Light colors vary by provider, so use the label on your router or your provider's guide if an error light stays on.
6
Test it Open any website on your phone over Wi-Fi. Working? You just did tech support.
