Air fryer basics for first-timers
It's a small, fast oven — not a magic box. Three habits cover almost everything.
1
Give it room
Pull it a hand's width from the wall — it vents hot air from the back.
2
Don't overfill the basket
One loose layer cooks crisp; a pile cooks soggy. Two batches beat one heap.
3
180°C / 355°F is the workhorse
Fries, nuggets, vegetables — start there, 12–15 minutes.
4
Shake at half time
Pull the basket, shake, slide back. That's the whole secret to even crisping.
⚠️ The basket and rim get properly hot — Handle only. And never run it with oil pooled in the drawer.
5
Check early, not late
Two minutes before the timer, look. You can always add time — you can't un-burn.
